Peterson translates as “Son of Rock”...That is rock music, planet earth, earth sign (Capricorn)...The music takes off from rock. It's an evolution and a development of acoustic guitar and vocal based songs informed by pop hooks, with jazz and East Indian flavors yet rooted in a rock feel punctuated and lifted by melodic electric guitar solos and counterpoint with trumpets weaving and accenting. Though varied in musical style it's got some catchy tunes and some contemplative lyrics that spring forth from a cohesive intention to bring some much needed light into the world.

Album Notes:
The self written, played and produced music on “Approaching Zero,” Karmin's first solo CD release has been described as progressive funk folk dharma rock with elements of East Indian, jazz and catchy horn lines in the mix. It is a blend of mindful lyrics with themes about conscious and voluntary life and commentary on the challenges of living in the world with a focus on inner transformation as a way through. Drums, bass and rhythmic guitar drive the songs while tuneful guitar and synth leads weave to support the compelling vocals. The instrumental "Earth of Air" is graced with drumming by Ron Brett. The music is highly original, yet accessible song oriented rock with a spirit of improvisation that is both concise and expansive. The music from this seasoned musician/writer presented on his debut solo release, is engaging and head bobbing good.

All other instruments and voice by Karmin Peterson except tambourine by Rose Peterson. Recorded, mixed and produced at Zero Point Studio by Karmin. Released on Retro Mars Rock Records  November, 2011.
